Comfort-Basic Safari in Tanzania Parks for 14 Days

Day 1 Kilimanjaro, Arusha

Upon arrival at the Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be met by your driver guide and transferred to your hotel for overnight.Moivaro Coffee Plantation situated right in the heart of beautiful, natural scenery on the slopes of Mt. Meru, the fifth highest mountain in Africa at 15,000 ft. The 32 cottages are comfortable with modern facilities each having the spectacular view of Mt. Meru yet is only 4.5 miles away from Arusha, the gateway to all the Northern Circuit parks of Tanzania. Or an alternative lodge is Mount Meru Game Lodge. This lodge became a very popular stop over for many VIP’s and Government visitors.

Day 2 Arusha National Park

After breakfast depart to Arusha National Park for game viewing with picnic lunches from your lodge. Arusha National Park is 137 square Kilometers and was established in 1960 and has three distinct zones that contribute to the park’s variety and beauty; Ngurdoto Crater, the Momela Lakes, and Mount Meru. The vegetation and wildlife found in the park are determined by the altitude and geography of the different areas. You will have an option of walking in the park (not included in our price).

Day 3 Tarangire National Park

After breakfast and a safari briefing, drive to Tarangire National Park. This is the classic Africa of lore with shimmering acacia stands, old baobab trees, Masai herds and herds of elephant. After arrival we game drive towards Tarangire Sopa Lodge for lunch. We will depart on an afternoon game drive.

Day 4 Tarangire National Park

A full day of game-viewing, exploring Tarangire National Park in our 4WD safari vehicle. In the dry-season of July-October, Tarangire National Park surpasses the Serengeti in terms of animal concentration as big herds begin to congregate around the permanent water of Tarangire River. It is not uncommon to see herds of 50+ elephant as well as every other mammal species including the rare Kudu and Oryx. The park is also noted for its prolific bird life and the occasional sighting of cheetah and the rare African Hunting Dog. We will return to the Tarangire Sopa Lodge for brunch, relaxing at the lodge during the hottest hours of the day, before setting out again in the afternoon.

Day 5 Lake Manyara National Park

After breakfast we depart for Lake Manyara, nestled on the floor of the Great Rift Valley, you will arrive in time for lunch before drive for afternoon game viewing in Lake Manyara National. Your tented lodge is perched on the lip of the Great Rift Valley Escarpment. An alternative lodge is the Ngorongoro Farm House. It is a small, exclusive lodge facing the Oldeani Volcano. It nestles in a 500 acre coffee farm, located just 4 km from the Lolduare entrance to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

Day 6 Lake Manyara National Park

After breakfast you will another day game drive in Lake Manyara National Park. Lake Manyara National Park was immortalised in Hemingway’s “Green Hills Of Africa” and represents a habitat distinct from elsewhere in our safari. Game drive allows us to explore the ground-water forest, rich in birds and monkeys, visit the hippo pool, and the acacia woodlands that border the soda lake swathed in the pink of the resident flamingos.

Day 7 Lake Eyasi

After breakfast drive to the land where the Wahadzabe lives. Arrive at the Kisima Ngeda Camp. Afternoon hike in the area. Meet the Datoga at their village. The Datoga are terrified of the Masai’s. The Masai are their biggest enemy. They are cattle herders as well. There was war between the Masai and Datoga for many years ago in Ngorongoro. The Datoga chief was killed and buried near Fig Tree Camp on the Crater floor. Drive back to the Camp.

Day 8 Lake Eyasi

A full day with culture. Due to nomadic behavior of this tribe, Wahadzabee, it is difficult to meet them. They move with the animals, as they are hunters. But our guide knows where to find them. Visit the Wahadzabee caves, where they sometimes times spend their nights while hunting. They hunt with bow and arrow. The Wahadzabee, the nearest relatives to the Bushmen of Kalahari Desert. Visit their place where they find the plant that they boil to produce their poison, which they use for hunting. This plant can be found all over the Lake Eyasi area. During walking and driving we might be lucky to see game as well such as lesser kudu, dik-dik and flamingos on Lake Eyasi. Otherwise there are plenty of birds.

Day 9 Serengeti National Park

Depart for Serengeti after breakfast via Ngorongoro highlands. From here the predator-rich plains of the Serengeti unfurl before us as we game drive through the park for the remainder of the day to arrive at your Serengeti Sopa lodge before dusk.

Day 10 & 11 Serengeti National Park

Spend another two full days to explore the Serengeti, the most famous National Park in Africa. Our driver-guide will choose our route based on his extensive knowledge of the park and local conditions but the Serengeti rarely disappoints. We carry our packed lunch with us so as to make the most of the day, but our trip might include tracking cheetah through the Gol Kopjes, hunting leopard along the Seronera River, avoiding the crocs and hippos at Retima or exploring the Masai paintings at Moru Kopjes.

Day 12 Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast depart for Ngorongoro Crater, with a final Serengeti game drive en-route, We stop at Olduvai Gorge to visit the site where Mary and Louis Leakey first discovered the remains ofZinjanthropus Bosei, a distant ancestor of man believed to be 1.8 million years old, Australopithecus Bosei, the ‘Nutcracker Man’, a species that became extinct about 1 million years ago and fossilised foot prints that date back 3,6 million years. We then descend down the 2000-ft walls of the Crater, a World Heritage Site and home to nearly 25,000 animals, for a game drive. Here you have a very real chance of spotting the big five: lion, elephant, endangered black rhino, buffalo and leopard plus countless other African mammal species. We drive to the Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge just before dusk. The lodge has a beautiful view on the crater while it is perched on the Crater Rim.

Day 13 Ngorongoro Crater

A full day in Ngorongoro Crater for game viewing, with picnic lunch, gives us time to explore in detail this fascinating wildlife amphitheatre. This caldera, formed by a volcano sinking, hosts a unique cross-section of eco-systems, from soda lake to savannah and is home to almost every major species of African mammal. Our presence does not threaten the wildlife making for an exhilarating proximity to the game that we rarely encounter elsewhere. Return at lodge just before dusk.

Day 14 Departure

Drive back to Arusha and you will arrive in time for lunch at Moivaro Lodge, day room will be reserved for you before transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your International flight. End of services of Kichaos Tanzania Safaris.
