Arusha National Park is 137 square Kilometers and was established in 1960 and has three distinct zones that contribute to the park’s variety and beauty; Ngurdoto Crater, the Momela Lakes, and Mount Meru. The vegetation and wildlife found in the park are determined by the altitude and geography of the different areas. You will have an option of walking in the park (not included in our price). You will return to your lodge for lunch and afternoon you will relax in the garden.

Have breakfast at the lodge before departure to the West Kilimanjaro area. Kambi ya Tembo Camp, formerly Sinya Camp, is on a private concession located near the border of Kenya near Amboseli National Park. The area offers spectacular views of snow covered Mt. Kilimanjaro. This is one of the few places in Tanzania that you will be able to experience night drives and walking safaris – escorted by Maasai warriors. The area has one of the biggest bull elephant populations in all of Africa. The elephants here have been studied for years by scientist Cynthia Moss. Enjoy game viewing activities in open vehicles, cross cultural interactions with a visit to a Maasai Boma and walking safaris. There is also the option for a night game drive.

After breakfast depart for full day game viewing in Tarangire with picnic lunch. This is the classic Africa of lore with shimmering acacia stands, old baobab trees, and herds of elephant. In the dry-season of July-October, Tarangire National Park surpasses the Serengeti in terms of animal concentration as big herds begin to congregate around the permanent water of the Tarangire River. It is not uncommon to see herds of 50+ elephant as well as many other mammal species including the rare Kudu and Oryx. The park is also noted for its prolific bird life and the occasional sighting of cheetah and the rare African Hunting Dog.

Lake Manyara National Park was immortalised in Hemingway’s “Green Hills Of Africa” and represents a habitat distinct from elsewhere in our safari. After breakfast depart into the crater game for game viewing, with picnic lunch, gives us time to explore in detail this fascinating wildlife amphitheatre. We then descend down the 2000-ft walls of the Crater, a World Heritage Site and home to nearly 25,000 animals, for a game drive. Here you have a very real chance of spotting the big five: lion, elephant, endangered black rhino, buffalo and leopard plus countless other African mammal species. This caldera, formed by a volcano sinking, hosts a unique cross-section of eco-systems, from soda lake to savannah and is home to almost every major species of African mammal. Our presence does not threaten the wildlife making for an exhilarating proximity to the game that we rarely encounter elsewhere.

From here the predator-rich plains of the Serengeti unfurl before you, as you game drive through the park for the remainder of the day en route to the Sasakwa Lodge in Serengeti.

You will have another two full day to explore the Serengeti, the most famous National Park in Africa.
